Rudra is another name of Lord Shiva. Rudrabhishek refers to a worship when Shiving is bathed   with holy water. It is deemed one of the holiest as well as powerful worship in Hinduism and is believed to remove the sins of many births and bless the devotees with prosperity and peace . It is also believed that Lord Shiva can be easily pleased and is a highly benevolent God. Rudrabhishek is performed on Shivratris. All the same, any day of Shravan (July-August) is ideally suited for  Rudrabhishek. During this Puja, Sri Rudam from Yagur Veda is chanted giving a holy bath to Shivling with any materials including Panchmrit or fruit salad soaked in honey. It is one of the ancient practices performed by Hindus worldwide.
