In Navratri Puja, Goddess Durga and her nine avatars are worshiped by the devotees with gaiety, fervor and enthusiasm. Navratri Puja(Durga Puja) is celebrated every year on the pious occasion of Navaratri.  Though there are four types of Navaratri: Chaitra Navaratri and Shardiya Navaratri hold great significance among Hindus. The festival is completed in 9 days, the first 3 days are devoted to Goddess Durga, consequent 3 days to deity Laxmi and goddess saraswati is worshiped in last 3 days.

Significance of Navratri Durga Puja (Navratri Puja)

Goddess Durga is another form of Maa Adhya Sakti who is the vital force responsible for sustaining life on the earth and existence of world. She is revered as the supreme energy that is omnipotent and omnipresent. Durga means invincible – her name reveals everything.

In Vedas, she is depicted as a determined deity riding a lion holding all kinds of weapons in all her eight hands. She is also famously known as Mahishasura Mardini as she killed and liberated people from atrocities of demon Mahishasura, weapons in all her eight hands represents that she has the ability to obliterate evil in all directions.

On each day of Navaratri, goddess Durga is revered in different forms that are :

• Maa Bhramacharini
• Maa Chandraghanta
• Maa Kushmanda
• Skand Mata
• Maa Katyayani
• Maa Kaalratri
• Maa Maha Gauri
• Maa Siddidhatri.
